Privacy policy

This policy covers the Macau Digital Library Association, part of CN1699 Media, and applies to people who subscribe to our newsletter or hold an MDLA library account.

What we collect

If you subscribe to the newsletter we collect your email address, and your name and institution if you give them. We record the date you subscribed and whether you confirmed the address.

When we send you a message we record whether it was delivered, whether it bounced, and whether you reported it as spam. This is how we keep our list clean and stop sending to people who do not want to hear from us.

How we use it

To send you the newsletter you asked for. We do not use your address for anything else, and we do not send you messages on behalf of other organisations.

What we do not do

• We never sell your address.
• We never share it with other organisations for their own marketing.
• We do not add anyone to the newsletter without them confirming first.

Confirming and unsubscribing

When you subscribe we send a confirmation link. You are only added once you click it. If you never click, nothing is sent.

Every message we send carries a one-click unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing takes effect immediately and permanently, and applies to every list we run rather than only the one the message came from. You do not need to contact us or give a reason.

Who processes it

Our newsletters are sent using Mailcoach, running on servers we operate, with Amazon Simple Email Service used for delivery. Subscriber information is held on our own systems.

How long we keep it

We keep your details for as long as you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe we keep a record of your address on a do-not-contact list, so that we do not accidentally add you again from another source. That record exists to protect you from further mail, and is not used to send anything.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to remove it. Write to mdla@cn1699.com and we will respond.

Library accounts

If your institution holds an MDLA library subscription, account details are managed with your institution under that arrangement. Contact your librarian, or write to us.
