MDLA Privacy Policy
Last updated 3 September 2026
1. Overview
Macau Digital Library Association (“MDLA”, “we”, “us”), working within the CN1699 academic publishing and media network, is a digital library and academic publishing organization serving medical universities, medical schools, research institutions, hospitals, academic communities, conferences and exhibitions, as well as researchers and investors in medical and scientific fields worldwide.
MDLA provides medical and scientific research information, academic and published content, conference information, innovation and R&D updates, research summaries, and related knowledge services.
This Privacy Policy explains how MDLA collects, uses, manages, and protects information in connection with our digital library services, personalized academic services, institutional services, and academic email communications.
2. Library Accounts and Institutional Access
MDLA library accounts and access to our library services may be provided directly or through participating universities, research institutions, hospitals, libraries, and other institutional partners.
Where appropriate, institutions may provide or authorize user information for the purpose of creating and managing access to MDLA library services.
Information associated with a library account may include a user’s name, email address, institution, account information, and information necessary to provide and manage library access and services.
3. Personalized Academic Services
Registered users may have access to personalized academic features and services, including:
- bookmarks and saved academic content;
- selected or recommended academic categories and channels;
- personalized and latest academic feeds, including research papers and conference abstracts;
- academic events, conferences and webinars, speaker information, conference and panel discussion summaries, and academic exhibition information;
- sharing and social features available within our library services.
MDLA may use account information, user selections, saved content, preferences, event activity, and other relevant service activity to provide and improve these personalized library services.
4. Academic Newsletters and Updates
MDLA provides academic email communications that may include:
- academic newsletters;
- medical, scientific, and research updates;
- journal, collection, and resource announcements;
- academic event, conference and webinar information;
- speaker highlights, conference and panel discussion summaries, and academic exhibition updates; and
- other information related to MDLA library and academic services.
Academic email subscriptions are managed separately from library access. Having an MDLA library account or receiving access through an institutional partnership does not, by itself, automatically subscribe a user to academic newsletters and updates.
New subscriptions initiated through our public website subscription forms require email confirmation before becoming active.
For subscription management, MDLA may retain information such as the email address, name and institution where provided, subscription date, confirmation status, and related subscription records.
5. How We Use Information
MDLA may use information as necessary to:
- provide and manage digital library access;
- administer institutional and user accounts;
- provide personalized academic features and services;
- maintain bookmarks, preferences, feeds, events, and other user-selected features;
- manage academic newsletter and update subscriptions;
- deliver requested academic communications;
- maintain the security and reliability of our services; and
- respond to user, institutional, privacy, and support requests.
6. Email Management and Delivery
MDLA uses email management and delivery systems to manage academic newsletters and updates.
Email delivery may be provided through third-party service providers acting in support of MDLA’s email services.
Information necessary for email delivery and management may be processed for purposes such as delivery, bounce handling, spam complaint handling, and unsubscribe processing.
MDLA does not sell or rent subscriber email addresses to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
7. Unsubscribe and Email Preferences
Recipients of MDLA academic newsletters and updates can unsubscribe using the unsubscribe option provided in the email.
Unsubscribe requests are used to prevent further subscription emails from being sent to that address.
Email addresses associated with unsubscribe requests, delivery failures, or spam complaints may be retained in do-not-email or suppression records where necessary to prevent further unwanted sending.
8. Data Protection and Retention
MDLA uses reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information associated with our services.
Information may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to provide and manage the relevant services, maintain appropriate records, protect our systems, and respect email preferences and suppression requirements.
9. Service Providers
MDLA may use service providers to support infrastructure, hosting, email delivery, and other technical functions required to operate our services.
Information is shared with such providers only as necessary for the services they provide on behalf of MDLA.
10. Your Choices
Users may manage their participation in available MDLA services and may unsubscribe from academic newsletters and updates at any time.
Users may also contact MDLA regarding privacy questions or requests concerning their personal information.
11. Updates to This Policy
MDLA may update this Privacy Policy when our services or practices change. The current version will be published on this page with its latest update date.
